چکیده
Objectives: This study’s objective was to compare changes in body composition measurements (BCM) and bone mineral density (BMD) over 2 years between collegiate athletes following hip arthroscopy treat labral tears due femoral acetabular impingement syndrome (FAI) matched uninjured athletes. Methods: A retrospective cohort study compared BCM BMD of NCAA Division I who underwent as a treatment for symptomatic FAI (scope group) with control group did not have 24 months. The the scope by sex sport at ratio 2:1. Inclusion criteria included arthroscopic surgery January 1, 2017, May 2019, repair, head-neck reshaping osteoplasty address an alpha angle > 55 degrees, available preoperative postoperative outcomes. Athletes had open surgery, athletic pubalgia, other lower extremity during period, or failure complete testing were excluded. Incoming beginning August 2017 outcomes controls. Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry scanning used measure BMD, lean mass, fat mass. regions interest trunk (comprised pelvis, spine, ribs), bilateral extremities (Figure 1A). mixed-effects linear regression model differences change groups baseline 1- 2-years. interaction time treated fixed effect, individual athlete random effect. p- value < 0.05 set threshold statistical significance all tests two-tailed. Results: total 20 period. Three excluded insufficient pre- data, one concomitant pubalgia. Therefore, 16 1B) 32 controls (Table 1). Relative group, group’s significantly reduced 1-year (β: - 0.052 grams/cm [95% CI: -0.073 -0.032]; p 0.001; Figure 1C). Conclusions: Compared athletes, after FAI. reductions noted greatest reduction occurring pelvis. also 1 years.
